Law is a system of rules and guidelines which are enforced through social institutes to govern wherever possible. It shapes political, economics and society in very many ways. Civil lawis a legal system. A legal case is a dispute between opposing parties resolved by a court, or by some equivalent legal process. A legal case may by civil or criminal. All legal systems deal with the same basic issues, but jurisdictions categories and identify its legal subjects in different ways. A common distinction is that between “public law” (a term related closely to the state, and including constitutional, administrative and criminal law), and “private law” (which covers contract, tort and property).

There are many types of law:-

Civil law: lawsuits and other hearings where there is no accusation of a crime. In these cases, the standard of proof is preponderance of the evidence. Both sides are private parties and nobody can be sent to jail over the issue at hand, but the court can issue rulings which make people do things, refrain from doing other things, and/or award monetary damages

Criminal law: the process for dealing with crimes. In these cases, it is the government versus the accused, and the government has to show guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Administrative law: law dealing with the internal running of government departments and services. There aren’t as many standard rules for administrative law, as it mostly deals with the regulations of a particular government body. Appeals of Social Security disability cases would be an example of administrative law.

Family law: a subset of civil law which deals with divorce, parenting, and related issues.

Divorce law : Divorce (or the dissolution of marriage) is the final termination of a marital union, canceling the legal duties and responsibilities of marriage and dissolving the bonds of matrimony between the parties

Will law: A will or testament is a legal declaration by which a person, the testator, names one or more persons to manage his estate and provides for the transfer of his property at death.

Corporate law: both civil and criminal law deal with regulating corporations and how they can act within society, things like accounting regulations and fraud (criminal) as well as product liability (civil).

Contract law: a subset of civil law dealing with contracts and how they are enforced by courts.

Traffic law: a subset of criminal law dealing with traffic violations.

Constitutional law: an overarching area of law dealing with the Constitution and its interpretation.

Religious law: is explicitly based on religious precepts.

Sociology of law is a diverse field of study that examines the interaction of law with society and overlaps with jurisprudence, economic analysis of law and more specialized subjects such as criminology. Although a formalized, authoritative source of law provides a precise and clear-cut answer to a legal problem, non-formal sources are also not unimportant and should not be ignored. Where a formalized legal document reveals ambiguities and uncertainties making alternative courses of interpretation possible, the non-formal sources should be resorted to for the purpose of arriving at a solution most conductive to reason and justice. When the formal sources entirely fail to provide a rule of decision for a legal case, reliance on the non-formal sources becomes mandatory.

Remember this little nugget of genius from Hollywood scholar Cameron Diaz during the 2004 election cycle? : “We have a voice now, and we’re not using it, and women have so much to lose. I mean, we could lose the right to our bodiesif you think that rape should be legal, then don’t vote.”

This was part of a rambling and obviously inane monologue Diaz gave on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2004 as she plugged both Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle and John Kerry for POTUS. Pundits tried to defend her diatribe by saying she was expressing her support for Kerry’s pro-abortion views. How that translates into “legal rape,” I do not know. She should probably just stick to film scripts.

Well, Bush won after all that and rape still isn’t legal. In truth, it’s closer to being legal under Hollywood’s darling Obama six years later than it ever was under W.

In New Jersey last year, family court judge Joseph Charles ruled against a woman’s request for a restraining order against her ex-husband who she claimed sexually abused her. Judge Charles said he believed the man was behaving according to his Muslim beliefs, and that he didn’t have “the criminal desire to or intent to sexually assault” her.

The woman testified that her husband repeatedly forced her to have sex with him, telling her he could do anything he wanted to her because she was his wife and, as such, forced to submit. Judge Charles ruled that the husband’s behavior “was something that was consistent with his practices andnot prohibited.”

Here, Judge Charles indirectly referred to Sharia law, the sacred law of Islam and, Muslims believe, the direct will of Allah. According to Sharia, women are considered inferior to men, and as such have fewer rights. In fact, a woman counts as half a man in giving evidence in a court of law. A husband has the right and the duty, both morally and religiously, to beat his wives (yes, they practice polygamy) for disobedience or misbehavior, however weak the evidence may be. A woman does not have the right to choose her husband, where she will live, or the clothes she will wear. She also cannot travel freely unless accompanied by a male relative.

Under this law, women are never independent from the fathers, brothers, husbands, and other men in their families. One of the most common punishments for women for adultery or other misconduct is the horrific and primitive practice of public stoning, sometimes at the hands of family members. In short, Sharia maintains the extreme patriarchy of the Islamic world.

However, the feminist voices have been practically silent on this issue. It seems “legal rape” disappears as soon as a Democrat is in office. But as Judge Charles has demonstrated, this is not so.

While judges try to respect various belief systems, as Judge Charles did here, they risk condoning Sharia law in the United States. In fact, a law proposed in Oklahoma, which will be on the November ballot there, would ban judges from considering international or Sharia law in their rulings. The fact that the issue is even being considered should scare everyone. We can only hope that Oklahomans have the good sense to uphold this ban, because without it, Sharia law would be allowed in America’s courts.

Our autonomous justice system should not be considering international and Sharia law. That’s a sure first step to losing our sovereignty and becoming part of a global community with amorphous boundaries, which the left and Obama would enjoy more than we proud Americans can imagine or believe. If immigrants want to take advantage of all the God-given rights and freedoms we Americans enjoy, defended through the decades by brave men and women, they must accept that they are under the jurisdiction of our justice system based on equal rights. In fact, the primary catalyst of the liberation of Muslim women as well as the safeguarding of American sovereignty will be the obliteration of Sharia wherever it is practiced.

Wherever we go, we are under the watchful eyes of the law. We cannot afford to overlook the fact ever. Those who try to overlook the law and take a chance are the ones who either suffer behind the bars or get killed by bullets, in extreme cases.

Even when youre working, you are under some jurisdiction that undermines you and your work. Similarly, there are jobs that involve the law and the field is better known as judiciary and the people lawyers, attorneys and judges.

Due to the increasing involvement of law in everything, there are more opportunities in the field than ever before. Now being a lawyer doesnt mean just a criminal lawyer.

Some of the spheres where law can get interesting are:

Corporate Law: This is perhaps the largest employer of the best brains in law. Corporate houses every time need to go through a screening by law. They cant do anything illegal; they are at all times covered and governed by laws. Quite understandably, lawyers have a lot of work to do here.

Criminal Law: This is the oldest reason why a law-setup was done. This setup is to prevent any crime from happening. Fortunately for lawyers, crimes do happen and they are employed. If there were no crimes at all, the lawyers would be sitting at home, jobless!

Juvenile Law: The modern times have not even spared children from the horrors of committing a crime. Thus came juvenile law where you need to treat cases pertaining to children and adolescents who are under the age of 18 years (age limit varies from state to state).

Civil Law: Everything that is divorce or has a dispute in property is governed by various laws which can be under a single heading titled as civil law. Arguably, civil cases are the most twisted and complex cases of all. For example, there can be multiple claimants for a piece of land or property and it is the courts duty to find the rightful owner of the same.

International Laws: Did you know that there are separate laws for each country and laws which are specific to a country are not valid in other countries? An offense in a country need not be seen as the same in another country! Therefore a need was felt for developing international laws. Such laws pan across the world and are the same for each country. Due to the interesting nature of the job, there are more takers for the same.

Jobs in law are also amongst the highest paid in the country. Lawyer jobs are the one of the most esteemed employment areas of all fields. Law employment is not a dream anymore.
